Leslie Aguilar

Leslie joined CHANNEL 5 NEWS in March 2014. As a native of Texas, Leslie is thrilled to be reporting on the Rio Grande Valley's number one station.

Leslie was born and raised near Fort Worth. She earned her degree in journalism from the University of North Texas. Leslie started her career in TV news while still in college, working at WFAA in Dallas for a year. There Leslie got to learn from the award-winning journalists she grew up watching. After graduating, Leslie moved on to KWTX in Waco, where she worked behind the scenes producing newscasts and editing video.

Leslie's reporting career started at KFDA in Amarillo. During her time in Amarillo, Leslie reported on drought and agriculture issues. She was also sent to cover national news stories, like the Moore, Oklahoma tornadoes and the West fertilizer plant explosion. She spent nearly two years reporting in the Texas Panhandle before packing up her cat, Missy, and moving to the Valley.

Leslie knew she wanted to be a journalist since she was in the third grade. She's always had a passion for writing and telling stories. What Leslie enjoys most about her job is that she gets to meet so many different people from unique backgrounds and learn something new every day.

Leslie loves reading a good book, relaxing on the beach with family and friends, traveling and trying out new restaurants. If you have a story for her, send her an email at leslie@krgv.com.
