WWII Veteran to be Buried on Thursday

WESLACO- A POW World War II veteran will be laid to rest in the upper Rio Grande Valley on Thursday.

Jorge Guerra, 93, died in Starr County on Feb. 15.

Ricardo Pena, commander with America’s Last Patrol, said mass for the fallen veteran will be held at Our Lady of Refuge Catholic Church on Feb. 18 at 10 a.m. The burial will follow at Falcon Cemetery in Falcon, Texas.

Guerra enlisted with the U.S. Army in 1942. He was a teacher for many years in the Starr County area.
