Photographer's Perspective: Working SweepsPosted: Updated: Feb 22, 2016 12:29 AM
WESLACO - Four times a year, television stations have a sweeps period. That’s when the Nielsen ratings company surveys households about their television viewing.
It's an opportunity for stations to showcase some of their bigger projects. CHANNEL 5 NEWS photojournalist Randy Garcia said, "Features are longer and more in-depth than our daily turns."
He said a sweeps piece can be challenging, since the story stretches well beyond the 90-second mark. The edits are also cut with precision. It's a team effort.
Garcia said he was able to learn essential skills from other photographers to be able to get to where he is today.
