Ways to Help
Below is a list of organizations which help people with diabetes and diabetes awareness in the Rio Grande Valley.
Hope Family Health Center provides medical and counseling care to the uninsured. Medical doctors, physician’s assistants, nurse practitioners donate their time to HOPE providing free care. HOPE is a non-profit organization sustained through grants, individual donations, volunteer services and fundraisers.
Proyecto Juan Diego empowers low-income families to be healthy and self-sufficient through educational programs, family activities and preventative health services. Proyecto Juan Diego is funded by United Way of Southern Cameron County and Methodist Healthcare Ministries of South Texas, Inc.
RGVDA’s goal is to enhance the quality of life of all persons impacted by diabetes through education. Dedicated to the prevention of diabetes and its complications through educational services, early detection and awareness, RGVDA is a non-profit organization that receives funding from individual donations and fundraising events.

The non-profit organization provides assistance to colonias. Staff and volunteers provide nutrition classes and started a community garden project.
The 501c3 nonprofit provides diabetes information and medical treatment to underprivileged families in the Rio Grande Valley through donations.
Rio Grande Regional Hospital offers diabetes self-management and outpatient nutrition-counseling services for patients with diabetes, prediabetes, juvenile diabetes and pregnancy-related diabetes.
Tu Salud Si Cuenta is a program open to the public that addresses obesity and associated chronic diseases in the Lower Rio Grande Valley.
