PHARR — The Pharr Police Department received nearly half a million dollars on Thursday.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) presented a check for $485,379.82 to the department.

The presentation happened Thursday morning at the Pharr Police Department. Pharr Police Chief Ruben Villescas, along with federal agents, were there for the presentation.

All three agencies worked a narcotics investigation. The money came from a cash seizure.

The funds are divided among the participating agencies. This is part of HSI's asset-sharing agreement.

Pharr police plan to use their share of money for more resources to keep city streets safe.
