Border Patrol Agents Seize $1.2 Million Worth of Drugs

NEAR RIO GRANDE CITY — Border Patrol agents were alerted to several people crossing the border illegally near Salineno, Texas with several bundles of drugs.

A suspect was spotted loading bundles into a pickup truck on Wednesday. Agents observed the suspect at a home, where the drugs were unloaded.

Border Patrol agents were able to stop the suspect after he made a second trip to the river for additional bundles of narcotics. The smuggler then fled to Mexico.

A total of 1,597 pounds of marijuana, worth $1.2 million, were seized.
