RIO GRANDE CITY – The Starr County District Attorney’s Office said a justice of the peace failed his probation drug tests.
We’re told Salvador Zarate tested positive for cocaine twice. Zarate was on probation, after he was found guilty of accepting cash in exchange for reducing a bond.
The district attorney said they filed a motion to revoke his probation.
The county is also still unable to fill Zarate's justice of the peace position. Zarate requested a new trial.
A district attorney’s office spokesperson said that suspends his removal. The office is moving ahead with a motion to remove Zarate.
