WESLACO- The news business can take reporters and photojournalists to some unexpected places.

Photojournalist Randy Garcia was able to travel to the Republican and Democratic conventions.

"I got to go to Cleveland and I got to go to Philly," Garcia said.

Garcia says he was busy during the two weeks of political meetings. He was there for protests and speeches.

Garcia was also assigned to cover the massive flooding that took over Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He met several storm victims but an interview with one man stood out.

"I'll never forget all the people who needed help. All the houses that were flooded. Not only were people hurt during this natural disaster, so were the animals," Garcia said.

Garcia's hard work has earned him an Emma award.
