WESLACO- The fall season means football for fans in the Rio Grande Valley. It also means Friday morning pep rally's for students across the Rio Grande Valley.

The McDonald's Dr. Pepper Friday morning pep rally allows students to show some team spirit before the big game.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS photojournalist Rick Ramirez says there is a lot of planning that goes into making the pep rally's happen.

"A location is selected every Friday in a different city where we bring high schools together to start season. A live truck is set up to broadcast the rally live," Ramirez says.

Music, games, and a little friendly competition fill out the morning festivities. Students are brought up on state to compete in various events for bragging rights for their high school.

A final contest determines who wins from the participating schools and the winner is announced Monday morning.
