EDINBUG – The Solid Waste Management Department and the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley will join to create the Community Engaged Scholarship Partnership. The event is scheduled for Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. It will be at the Solid Waste Department located at 8601 North Jasman Road.

A group of both graduate and undergraduate students in the Environmental Sociology program at UTRGV will participate in the event. The goal is to learn about the community’s waste management activities. The event will feature updates regarding activities in managing solid waste. Students can also learn about the crucial aspects of waste management, and engage in dialogue with the administrators of the facility. Based on their service learning experience, the students will engage in finding creative solutions to address the community need-based issues to achieve sustainable waste management practices. These results will later be presented to the department.
