City of Elsa Awarded 2016 Municipal Excellence Award

Posted: Updated:

ELSA – The City of Elsa was recognized for its reimaging campaign. At the Texas Municipal League Annual Conference and Exhibition, Elsa received the 2016 Municipal Excellence Award in the Management Innovations category.

Members of the Elsa city council and staff accepted the award at the Austin Convention Center in October. City leaders were recognized for taking a pro-active approach to addressing poverty, deindustrialization, and economic stratification.

The city began its reimaging campaign with a re-organization of city management and staff. The city’s goal is to expand communications with residents, facilitate opportunities to increase community spirit and pride, enhance public safety, and increase the focus on infrastructure management. Elsa’s recent projects include a school supply drive, a Christmas Toy Drive, and a business and resource fair.

The Texas Municipal League is a voluntary association of 1,150 Texas Cities. Its primary objective is to serve the needs and advocate the interests of Texas cities.
