ELSA - A Rio Grande Valley veteran and his family now have a sheltered place to call home.

CHANNEL 5 NEWS reported how U.S. Army veteran Oscar Rodriguez’s roof caved in. He told us he was unsure how he was going to pay for repairs.

America’s Last Patrol got involved and helped repair his mobile home. Volunteer Alvaro Esquivel said the organization seeks to help all local veterans in need.

“Our goal is to help as many veterans as we can. As much as we can, and whenever we can,” he said. “So, when we saw this happening we thought, ‘Hey, he’s a comrade.’ So, we’re here for him also.”

The family is expected to move back into their home by the end of this week.
