Online Social Security Replacement Forms Available Feb. 1

WESLACO – Social Security announced retired U.S. citizens can easily request a replacement of a Social Security tax form online.

Every January, Social Security mails a benefit statement, an SSA-1099, to more than 60 million people who receive benefits.

The form shows the total amount of benefits received in the previous year. People can use it to report to the IRS how much Social Security income they’ve received.

Anyone who misplaced their benefit statement form or has not received it by the end of January, can request a replacement with their Social Security account online.

Noncitizens who live outside of the U.S. and received or repaid Social Security benefits last year will receive form SSA-1042S instead.

The forms SSA-1099 and SSA-1042S are not available for people who receive Supplemental Security Income.

Online replacement forms will be available beginning Feb. 1.
