Baseball Showcases

Posted: Updated:

LA JOYA - A pair of high school baseball games in La Joya on Saturday officially brought the high school baseball season to a close here in the Valley.  The annual All Star Showcases brought together top players from across the Valley in two different classifications.  East met West in both a large school and smaller school format.  Players told CHANNEL 5 that in many cases this would be a final opportunity to play competitive baseball.  Most do not go on to play either college baseball or professionally.  They said it was one last chance to appreciate being on the diamond and playing a game they love.  CHANNEL 5's Brandon Ortega narrates the highlights in this video report.
