Softball Showcase

Posted: Updated:

LA JOYA - Much like the boys in the Baseball Showcases played on Saturday in La Joya, the girls taking part in the Softball Showcase got one more chance to put on a uniform and compete with some of their Valley peers.  East faced West.  Yet, the theme on the night, from both teams, was the idea of reuniting with players they've battled with for many years.  There is a strong bond among the players regardless of the school they played for or the stakes in play. Many of the girls remained focused on the opportunity to gather one last time.  CHANNEL 5's Brandon Ortega has the story in this video report.

WESLACO - Thee is just one month's worth of games to be played in the regular football season for 2017.  By now, the good teams have certainly staked claims as contenders for district championships and playoff spots.  That's reflected in the fact that ten of last week's 12 ranked teams in Dave's Dozen held firm to their positions.  As for the two new entrants, here's CHANNEL 5's Dave Brown to explain.
