Annual McAllen North Rotary Club Celebration Being Held TonightPosted: Updated:
MCALLEN - For more than 110 years, Rotary members have been addressing challenges around the world. Grassroots at the core, Rotary links 1.2 million members to form an organization of international scope. It started with the vision of one man – Paul Harris. The Chicago attorney formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas, form meaningful, lifelong friendships, and give back to their communities.
This evening the McAllen North Rotary Club, founded in March 1984, celebrates its many accomplishments of the past 12 months and looks forward to the many opportunities available to it in the next 12 months. Last year this club collected and donated over $30,000 to many charities, agencies, and other organizations to help those in need, both locally, nationally, and internationally. We team with other clubs worldwide to bring help to others, where even a simple thing as a water filter can bring about a tremendous improvement in the quality of life.
Tonight, we honor those who have made difference in the world. They will join the 167 Paul Harris recipients of the Paul Harris Foundation Award from the McAllen North Club. All of these we honor will say they are not deserving of this recognition; that they are “just doing what they can.” Because of these honorees, and millions like them, who help in so many ways, make this world a better place in which to live. Tonight, we honor Max Grubb who has devoted 50 years to Rotary service. We honor Paul Harris recipients Sr. Norma Pimentel, Victor Rodriguez, Keith Patridge, and twelve others for their service above self.
