Man Involved in Fatal Brownsville Wreck Possibly Facing New Charges

BROWNSVILLE – A 72-year-old man arrested in connection to a fatal accident last week may face upgraded charges.

A 29-year-old woman hospitalized after the accident died from her injuries.

Brownsville police said Gustavo Munoz was driving along Padre Island Highway last Wednesday, when he veered off the road and hit the woman and her 2-year-old son.

The boy died at the hospital. Munoz was already charged with criminal negligent homicide and aggravated assault.

Officers said the district attorney will review the case and determine if charges will be upgraded.
