Brownsville Shelter Awaiting Freezer Repairs

Posted: Updated:

BROWNSVILLE – Officials at a downtown Brownsville soup kitchen said they’re still waiting for their commercial freezer to get fixed.

Good Neighbor Settlement House Director Jack White said the freezer’s lock was broken when some thieves used a crowbar to pry it open.

He said the damage caused is worth a lot more than the six turkeys they stole.

White said the soup kitchen struck a deal with a company to repair the freezer, but they’re waiting for the $2,500 fix to happen.

White hopes to get the freezer fixed soon with more people coming during the cold days.
