9 Rescued from Rental Truck at Falfurrias Checkpoint

Posted: Updated:

NEAR FALFURRIAS – Border Patrol agents at the Falfurrias checkpoint found nine people who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border illegally inside a rental truck.

On Wednesday morning, a K-9 officer alerted agents to the back of the truck. Upon further inspection, they found nine Guatemalans and Mexicans in the cargo.

According to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection press release, the driver, a U.S. citizen, was arrested.

The bust is now part of a long list of cases so far this year.

Last week, Border Patrol said agents found a total of 44 people inside a tractor-trailer.

As an effort to crack down on illegal immigration, the agency encourages anyone to report suspicious activity to 911.
