Shelters Opening Due to Near Freezing Temperatures

WESLACO – The Rio Grande Valley is expecting freezing weather Monday. Here is a list of shelters if you or someone you know needs a warm place to stay.


Ozanam Center
656 North Minnesota Ave.
Open 24 hours

Loaves and Fishes

Guests are welcomed 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.

La Grulla

La Grulla High School Gym
819 N FM 2360
Please bring your necessary medication, warm blankets and hygiene products.

Safe Room & Community Recreation Dome
1202 N. Vermont
Open from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Need to bring own bedding, food and water. No pets are allowed.


Salvation Army
Pecan and 23rd Street
Be sure to have identification
New registrations going on from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. 


The Community Room (located between the police and fire departments)
524 W. Hidalgo Ave
The number of people allowed to stay will be limited. People are asked to call Raymondville Police before arriving to receive instruction of things needed.

Rio Grande City
