Program Handing Out ‘Paisano Guides’

Posted: Updated:

WESLACO – The National Institute of Migration wants to make sure people know the proper officials in Mexico.

The program is handing out “Paisano guides” to provide information on the rights, obligations and procedures there are in Mexico.

The complete guide provides the proper identification of officials’ uniform from all Mexican law enforcement.

Mexican officials hope this will help tourists avoid others impersonating law enforcement.

“This is very useful because it has all the uniforms of the personnel they may encounter, all the officials, emergency personnel,” said Fernando Valdez, the deputy Consul at the Mexican consulate in Brownsville. “It’s useful to recognize the organization they have interaction with.”

The initiative will be enforced until January 8th.
