Suspect in Aggravated Robbery Believed to be in Matamoros

BROWNSVILLE – Authorities said they’ve identified the suspect in a Brownsville aggravated robbery with the help of the community.  

Cameron County Sheriff Omar Lucio said they believe he may be in Matamoros. 

"He may have gone towards Mexico," he said, "but somebody identified him. Apparently, they know who he is."

Lucio said the suspect entered a convenience store located on the 2300 block of Carlos Ave.

The man, caught on surveillance video wielding a knife and demanding cash from a clerk, is identified as Sergio Garcia Carmona.

A warrant for his arrest has been issued.

The sheriff’s office said they’re working with Mexican authorities
