MCALLEN – The Salvation Army in McAllen has new registration hours for people in need of shelter.

The new registration times will be from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Employees at the shelter say they adjusted the hours to better help families get the help they need.

Check out time for shelter guests will remain at 7 a.m.

However, during the cold weather, the shelter will be allowing guests to stay indoors all day.

The representative says that policy will be in place until Thursday when the Rio Grande Valley is expected to start seeing warmer weather.

The Salvation Army is located on the 1600 block of North 10th Street in Mcallen.
