Car Crashes into Home in Weslaco, No Injuries Reported

Posted: Updated:

WESLACO – Weslaco police are investigating a possible hit-and-run after a car crashed into a house Wednesday afternoon.

Officials said they believe another car hit the vehicle before it crashed into the home located on W 1st and Calle De La Republica streets.

A witness told CHANNEL 5 NEWS no one was inside at the time of the crash.

A crew cut power to the home as a precaution.

A spokesperson for the Weslaco Police Department said the home was declared unlivable. They said the family will have to stay somewhere else in the meantime.

"That way the structure of the home won't actually cave in or cause any injuries to anybody living inside the home," said Carlos Hinojosa with Weslaco police.

Authorities said the family will have to obtain a police report, then make a claim with the insurance of the person that's deemed responsible.

The passengers in the vehicle went to the hospital.

Their condition is not known.
