Harlingen VA Center Making Improvements after Low Performance Reviews

Posted: Updated:

HARLINGEN – The Harlingen Veteran Affairs Medical Center is working to make improvements after receiving a one out of a five-star rating by the VA.

The Harlingen VA appointed a 12-person board to work on the problems addressed in a report.

An official with the VA medical center says there are areas of improvement at the Harlingen VA to be focused on.

“As far as weakness, I am not sure if they’ve delineated weakness but I know that they’ve told us to focus on three separate areas,” says VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Deputy Chief of Staff Dr. Eric Kendle. “One is patient satisfaction, one is access and the other one is coordination of the care.”

Kendle says there’s been no deadline for the improvements to be completed at the Harlingen VA Medical Center.
