Toros Best Liga MX Champ in Friendly

EDINBURG – The Rio Grande Valley’s pro soccer team defeated Liga MX champion Santos Laguna 3-0 in a friendly at H-E-B Park Wednesday night.

The Toros struck first in the 21st minute on a free kick from Pablo Aguilar that sailed up and over a diving goalkeeper. Seven minutes later, Jordan Jones doubled the RGV FC lead.

The Toros got back on the scoreboard in the 64 minute on a strike from Monday Etim.

Goalkeeper Matt Sanchez made several saves for the Toros in a clean sheet performance.

RGV FC returns to USL action Saturday with a home game against Las Vegas. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
