City officials explain the council wants more time to research their options.

They explain the ordinance won't be enforced for now.

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND – The City of South Padre Island could repeal its ban on plastic bags following a new court ruling.

SPI city council will meet Wednesday to discuss the bag ordinance.

A recent Texas Supreme Court ruling dealing with a bag ordinance in Laredo has called into question the legality of city ordinances around the state.

The public will be able to address the issue at the meeting.
