DONNA – The new Donna ISD superintendent welcomed the school year by presenting a groundbreaking addition for students.

The school district plans to build a new wing in Todd Middle School that will add about 19 classrooms and will replace several old portable buildings.

Hafedh Azaiez came to a district that has previously been involved in political turmoil. However, he says he plans to offer more opportunities by changing one thing.

“Our decision should not be based on what’s best for adults or this particular adult versus the other adult. It’s what’s best for the students, our Donna ISD students,” he says. “Remember the business that we’re at is the business of educating kids. We work for kids.”

KRGV’s Rick Diaz has more on the school district’s other new addition in Con Mi Gente.
