Local Agencies Trying to Prevent Floodwater from Rising

Posted: Updated:

EDINBURG – Local agencies are trying to get rid of floodwater before another storm hits.

KRGV’s Angelo Vargas learned Hidalgo County precincts, irrigation and drainage districts made emergency improvements to drain the water.

A father whose children attend Edinburg CISD schools tells CHANNEL 5 NEWS how he adapted to the floods.

“I had to actually carry my kids to school so their feet won't get wet,” says resident Esteban Rodriguez.

Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Commissioner Joseph Palacios explains improvements are ongoing and crews will continue to monitor the situation.
