Pan De Capo Competition Still Going Strong after 40 Years

Posted: Updated:

EDINBURG – Cooking teams flocked the 40th Annual Pan De Campo competition to showcase their talent.

The cook-off is hosted by American Legion Post 408 of Edinburg. Members say it’s all about doing the bread as real cowboys did in the past, all while raising money to help veterans.

“They compete if five categories. They do with fajitas, carne guisada, charro beans, pork ribs and pan de campo,” explains Comdr. Agustin Gus Garcia with the American Legion post.

KRGV’s Rick Diaz gives us a savory glimpse of the annual competition.
