Student of the Week
In our continuous search for means through which, KRGV Channel 5 can support the educational system in the Rio Grande Valley, we determined that consideration should be given to the students who excel. We initiated a program called Student of the Week. High schools from across the Valley nominate a candidate from their school based on their academic, extracurricular, and community leadership efforts. These nominees are screened and for a 10-week period, a Student of the Week is chosen.
KRGV Channel 5 staff highlights each winner in a segment of the news each Wednesday morning for 10 weeks. The winners are awarded scholarships of $1,000 for future college work during a banquet at the conclusion of the project.
