BROWNSVILLE - A recount for Cameron County justice of the peace precinct 2, place 3 revealed no surprises.
The vote count remained the same - 2,635 for Mary Esther Garcia, 2,492 for Pete Avila Jr. and 2,387 for Minerva Pena.

BROWNSVILLE - The dates for recounts in two Cameron County elections have been set.

CAMERON COUNTY - State agriculture officials on Wednesday designated a citrus greening quarantine zone in Harlingen.
The zone covers a 5-mile radius from the city's downtown.

BROWNSVILLE - The former Cameron County district attorney will learn his sentence this afternoon.
Armando Villalobos was convicted of racketeering and extortion. Investigators said he solicited and accepted bribes in exchange for reducing criminal charges or dismissing cases altogether.
