McALLEN - South Texas swim teams geared up for district meets with the New Year's Classic at Rowe High School Saturday. After 24 events, the top three girls' teams in order were Sharyland, Rowe, and McAllen. On the boys' side, McAllen Memorial won top honors followed by Sharyland and Rowe.

WESLACO - Valley soccer teams excelled on their home turf this weekend with a pair of victories over out-of-Valley squads.
