1 Rescued, 1 Dead After Smuggler Abandons Group
NEAR FALFURRIAS – A person died after a smuggler abandoned a group of people that crossed the U.S. illegally.
U.S. Border Patrol agents responded to a rescue call Sunday afternoon. Upon arriving to the location, agents said one of the two people found had died.
The caller allegedly said he and his brother were lost in the brush when his brother became ill. He said he died shortly after he made the 911 call.
The Mexican national did not require medical attention.
His brother’s body was transported to a nearby funeral home.
