16-Year-Old Accused of Burglary in Custody
RIO GRANDE CITY – A 16-year-old accused of burglary is being held at the Starr County juvenile detention center.
Officials said on Wednesday, the teen went into El Tigre Food Store on the corner of Reynaldo Gomez Dr and U.S. 83.
He demanded the clerk hand over the money and said, “Don’t do anything stupid.” Police said he was able to get away with about $100.
Within the hour, Starr County sheriff’s deputies, DPS troopers and Rio Grande City police officers were able to locate him hiding in nearby brush.
According to police, no weapon was found on the suspect or at the scene.
The teen is also facing a credit card abuse charge in another case.
