RIO GRANDE CITY – The holiday break left Friday night’s high school basketball slate extremely thin.

While most teams were off, Rio Grande City and Laredo Nixon laced up their kicks for a pair of 31-5A contests.

In our feature 5 on 5 game of the night, RGC’s girls outpointed Nixon 68-53.

The Rattlers were also victorious in the boys matchup, with RGC outlasting Nixon 98-94 in overtime.
