WESLACO – Several Rio Grande Valley school districts earned a postsecondary distinction in this year’s state accountability ratings.

The postsecondary readiness distinction takes into account things such as graduation rates, SAT/ACT performance, Career and Technical Education graduates and dual credit completion.

The Texas Education Agency said the postsecondary readiness distinction is the only distinction at the district level that is under the state accountability system.

The following Valley school districts earned the distinction:

McAllen ISD, South Texas ISD, Valley View ISD, Edinburg CISD, Los Fresnos CISD , Sharyland ISD , and Roma ISD.

Only 58 school districts and charters in the state earned a postsecondary readiness rating. That's only 4.8 percent of schools.
