EDINBURG – An attorney has filled the position vacated by former Hidalgo County Judge Rudy Delgado.

Attorney Jaime Tijerina was sworn in to the 93rd District Court Thursday.  

Delgado resigned from office after being accused of federal bribery.

After the resignation, Governor Greg Abbott appointed Tijerina to the seat.

Tijerina says this is a six-month term until the next election, which will be held to decide who will hold the position permanently.
