DALLAS (AP) - Dallas police have shot dead a man who they say fired a handgun he was waving in an intersection.

The incident happened shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Texas 342 and Camp Wisdom Road in the city's South Oak Cliff district.

Police Sgt. Warren Mitchell says someone flagged down police to report a man was waving a handgun in the intersection. As officers approached, the man fired his weapon. Officers then opened fire, wounding the man fatally.

Mitchell says no one else was wounded. The suspect's identity hasn't been released.
