UPDATE (5/18): Brownsville investigators say the body of a woman found in a canal has been identified.

The body of Irene Carling, 78, of Rancho Viejo was found in a canal along FM 803 on May 17. 

Police say preliminary reports do not show any sign of foul play. 

A final autopsy to determine the official cause of death has been ordered. 

The investigation is ongoing.

BROWNSVILLE – A missing woman out of Rancho Viejo was found dead Thursday.

Her body was found in a canal along the 9200 block of FM 803.

Brownsville police say the woman’s family reported her missing Thursday morning.

Brownsville police are investigating the cause of death.
