BROWNSVILLE – The Brownsville Public Utilities Board announced the temporary closure of southbound US 77 and US 83 on Thursday, Nov. 30.

Crews will be repairing the lighting on the expressway from midnight to approximately 6 a.m.

The southbound portion of the expressway from Ruben M. Torres Blvd to Boca China Blvd. will be closed off to drivers. 

The closure will impact southbound traffic only. Traffic will be detoured to the South Frontage Road.

The utility board said this is a part of an ongoing effort by BPUB to improve the city’s safety and infrastructure.
