BROWNSVILLE – The mayors of Brownsville and Matamoros are coordinating to prepare for the possible arrival of the Central American caravan.

The border cities are just three miles apart and could be the target destinations of the caravan.

KRGV’s Sierra Pizarro spoke with a resident who is concerned about the possible arrival.

Meanwhile, both mayors met to speak about the border concerns.

Brownsville Mayor Tony Martinez wants residents to know there’s no need to worry.

“We have shelters so we can assist them. We will have first responders on standby to see what conditions they arrive in; food, cots and protection,” says Matamoros Mayor Mario ‘La Borrega’ Lopez.
