BROWNSVILLE – The Brownsville Police Department is warning residents about a dubious shipping operation.

Police said they have several recent reports of the alleged crime.

Officers said the suspect reaches out to an unsuspecting victim by phone or email pretending to work for a shipping company. They claim the person has a chance to make money from home just by inspecting and shipping items that will be mailed to them.

The suspect then says they will send the person a credit card to buy specific items and then they’ll mail the items back.

Police said the credit cards are cloned cards. Officials said the suspects are using the names of real shipping companies.

If you are contacted with an offer like this, get as much information from the company and tell them you’ll call them back. If they decline, then that is an indication it’s not real.
