BROWNSVILLE – The owner of a used car dealership is facing more than a dozen new criminal charges.

Maria Felipa Treviño is behind bars for falsifying names, information and forgery.

Brownsville Public Information Officer Melissa Gonzalez says many people don’t know they are victims to this third-degree felony until the vehicles have been tracked back to them.

Cameron County Tax Assessor Tony Yzaguirre advises individuals to check how many vehicles are filed under their names by filling out a request at the tax assessor’s office.
