Cameron Co. Places Border Security Program on Hold
BROWNSVILLE - The Cameron County Precinct 1 Office is putting Operation Stonegarden on hold due to a lack of funding.
Constable Pedro Delgadillo said the office was given nearly $3,000 for the beginning of this year.
The federal grant helps constables patrol hot spots along the Rio Grande and is split among different county agencies.
Delgadillo said they’ll be waiting until the program gets more funding for the deputies to work with.
The constable said that could happen sometime this summer.
