Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño Jr. said Monday that he may impose a new curfew if the number of people testing positive for COVID-19 continues to increase.

A spike in the number of COVID-19 cases reported by Hidalgo County is cause for concern, Treviño said, and could impact Cameron County.

"It's hard for me to think that we're not going to be impacted by those increases that we're seeing in Hidalgo," Treviño said. "I hope I'm wrong. I want to be wrong. I don't want to be right. But we're one community. The Valley is one community."

Treviño said he could make a decision on the curfew as soon as Wednesday.
