BROWNSVILLE – U.S. Customs and Border Protection seized more than $250,000 worth of alleged narcotics in two separate inspections that took place last week.

On Wednesday, July 18, officials discovered 11 packages of alleged cocaine when a 2013 Chevrolet Sonic was referred for a secondary inspection at the Brownsville and Matamoros International Bridge.

In the second seizure, CBP officers referred a 2001 black Ford F-150 truck for secondary inspection at the Gateway International Bridge. They later found two packages of alleged methamphetamine concealed inside the truck.

Both drivers, identified as U.S. citizens, were arrested and turned over to HSI for further investigation.

The combined street value of both seizures was about $251,000.
