DONNA – Authorities said they issued a citation to those responsible for a multi-structure fire near Donna.

Firefighters responded to a residential area on Cummings Road south of Donna Friday afternoon. 

The Hidalgo County Fire Marshal’s Office said three storage sheds and two acres burned. The flames made it to a neighboring house and burned a tree. 

Investigators said several people were burning without a permit. 

"People think that just because they're in the county, that gives them free reign to burn. We've actually got times that are set up for burning, and people need to have a burn permit. In cases like these, they're going to be cited," said Hidalgo County Fire Marshal investigator John Franz. 

He said there's currently no halt on burn permits. Hidlago County residents can purchase one for $25. 

No injuries were reported. 

Emergency responders continue working on making sure the fire is out.
