WESLACO – U.S. Congressman Henry Cuellar said the president-elect's transition team is working on plans to build a complete wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

During a meeting with media, Cuellar said President-Elect Donald Trump’s transition team asked U.S. Customs and Border Protection headquarters where they see a need for fencing along the border.

Cuellar said he spoke with the Laredo sector of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. They were told to come up with a location for a wall.

“My understanding, I’ve asked this of Border Patrol, the Border Patrol chiefs, has headquarters through the transition team, have they asked you? And I’m interested in one thing in particular – have they asked you about where you want to put a wall,” Cuellar said. “And again information has been provided. I can tell you that one Border Patrol chief, ‘No we don’t need a fence here, a wall here.’ And they said, ‘Nope, go back again, try again, you gotta come up with something.’ So the transition team is telling the headquarters start thinking about walls.”

Cuellar said he’s unsure what the deadline is to get this information to Trump’s transition team, but he said they’re demanding locations for more fencing.
