DONNA – A family is without a home after it was stolen off the property early Tuesday morning.

Crystal Lopez says she and her husband bought the trailer earlier this month with money they earned from a year’s work.

The mother of three said she doesn't come from a wealthy family.

The family realized the trailer was missing when they returned from a spring break trip to Mexico.

This past week, the Lopez’s four kids went to school, while Crystal and her husband, went to work on their soon-to-be home. When they pulled into the subdivision that morning, Crystal's husband spotted the gap right away.

“He tells me, ‘the trailer's not there,’ and I thought he was joking,” said Crystal Lopez recounting that morning’s events.

The trailer was going to be the family's first home they could call their own since they've only rented in the past.

The couple said they spent the past few days scouting neighborhoods in hopes of finding it.

“There's people that told me that I’m not going to find it, but I know I will. I know I will find it, but it's going to take me time. It's going to take me time because I'm not going to give up,” said Lopez with tears in her eyes. “I know I’m going to have to find it for my kids. Everything I do is for my kids. I don't know why somebody doesn’t have a heart to come and take someone else's effort.”

The Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft. Anyone with information can call the Criminal Investigations Division at 956-383-8114.
